Engines and Services

We are now agents for Mermaid Diesels. We ordered a engine a few weeks ago to be fitted into one of our private boat owners cruisers.

Here you can see a picture of the engine which arrived today.

Before we could fit the engine we had to clean out the engine compartment and re paint it.

We also have other private work going on around the yard such as Darren doing gas work (we are qualified and licenced Gas Safe LPG engineers) and others are doing general repairs.

As well as being agents for Mermaid Diesels we are also agents for Selva Outboards and are a local supplier for engine spares and service parts.

Contact us for BMC, Perkins, Lister Petter, Volvo, Bowman, Ford and many more.

Suppliers of batteries, cables, pipes, filters, switches, clips, bulbs, pumps, stainless nuts, screws and bolts, gas fittings, oil, ATF, belts, alternators, fuses, windsreen wiper motors, blades and spares, insolators, hose, plumbing and much, much more!

Magical Time

We have recently been refiiting our Foster 34, which we are completely recycling. It will be a new boat without the carbon footprint of a new grp lay up. She will be a truly Green boat to be called Magical Time.

Originally she was stripped back to the bare superstructure as you can see from the photographs below.

Next we had her lifted out onto the hard standing so we could paint the hull. She also had her red band painted on to match in with rest of our fleet.

Once the hull was painted she was put back into the water to have her top painted.

We have now purchased the laminates which have started to be fitted and her windows are also being installed.

Keep watching for more updates on Magical Time!!

Turnaround Day

Image The cleaners work hard to ensure that the boats are fully cleaned inside. All beds are made up to your specified requirements.Image

As well as the inside of the boats being cleaned, you can see here that Ryan is also hard at work cleaning the exterior.

Stuart has to make sure all of the cruisers are fully serviced when they return to the boatyard so they are ready for their next let. Above you can see him in the engine compartment of Fun Time 2.

ImageWhen you arrive at the boatyard your first stop will be to come to Reception. Here you will be greeted by myself (Lucy) or another reception staff member. We will go through your boating manual with you and fit you into your lifejackets. You will also be shown to your cruiser.

Outside our reception you can see our green trolleys. These are provided for you to help unload from your car to your hired cruiser.

This is the car park you will initially park in when you arrive at DRL Marine. You will be able to unload your car from here using the green trolleys. You will then report back to the reception, when you have unloaded, so that you can move your car to our secure car park.

Once your car is parked away a member of staff (Mike, Stuart or Darren) will come onboard to do your handover. This will involve being taken round the interior and exterior of the boat and shown how everything works. Above is a picture of Womack Water which is where you comprehensive trial run will also take place. You will be taken out for a run on the river. Your member of staff will show you how to handle a cruiser, how to turn it around and also how to do a sideways mooring (if possible). On return to the boatyard the member of staff will demonstrate how to moor stern on. They will also be able to give you hints and suggestions on where to visit based on your own interests and requirements.

Keep a watch out on our blog for more updates!!!
